People of the city have already started preparing for the Jaipur marathon which is to be held on February 5, 2017. Various running events will be organised in the next coming six months wherein interested people will get a chance to build their stamina and prepare for the final event.

The first running event was organised under the banner 'Runners monsoon run'. Runners who participated in the event started from Cambay garden, Kookas and ended the run in a village situated near Aravali Hills. More than 200 runners came forward to participate in the run from various running and cycling groups from the city.

The idea is to promote fitness and increase the awareness of the masses about the Au Bank Jaipur Marathon. The run was organised under three categories; 5 km run, 11 km run and 21 km run. The run started at 5.30. Many people who joined the event cycled from Jaipur to Kookas.
While speaking to dna, organiser of the event Mukesh Mishra said, "We are planning for many such events in the coming months as we want people to be aware about the event and come forward to show their participation. This is a positive step towards being fit. Also, such events help in expanding the social circle of people as in events like these they get to meet and interact with new people."

"Another reason to organise such an event is that through this the new runners will get a chance to learn from senior runners," he added
The next event will be organised on September 3. This is a first of its kind event and people from the city and nearby areas will be participating in the event.
